Day 123 - Sailing Away
Boats are always sailing away. I wonder where to. Taken from our favorite viewpoint, the junction of Seattle and Sunset. Yeah.
Day 122 - A Place for Quiet Study
Drove down to Portland to visit daughter Josephine and take a second little road trip in this new car. Yeah, new car. But that’s not what this is about. It’s about Josephine’s ‘study’ which is just so peaceful looking I can’t stand it. Including manual typewriter. With paper ready to go, in case you are inspired-upon-arrival!
Day 120 - Guests!
This afternoon we entertained our first non-family guests, Carolyn and John. The meal was so delicious that I forgot to take photos of it and us - but did manage to get a few iPhone shots of the early evening light moving our shop signate up across the wall.
Day 117 - Test Negative
On July 4th I stuck the swizzle up my nose. Not pleasant but, neither did it have to go into my brain or down my throat. And yes, the test came back negative. Whatever that means.
Day 116 - RBNR (Not quite a 'party on the patio')
Our extended family is recently in the habit of sending photos from our respective shelter locations, showing our Monday red beans & rice. This was today’s. Mochi joined but was not impressed.
Day 115 - Alpine Lakes
We joined the crowds at Alpine Lakes Wilderness and headed up the trail. It didn’t help that we didn’t get started until 2:300pm but it was a glorious six hours and we almost made it to the second lake. Next time!
Day 114 - July 4th
A fairly quiet day at Harper but with a nice sunset. Haze below Mt Rainier on an otherwise clear day indicates a fair amount of fireworks activity.
Day 113 - Dog Gone
Took a lovely walk with Katherine and her dog Dizzy. Two days later she was gone. But not to worry. Katherine and her ex, John, have shared custody. Hope I didn’t scare you but I couldn’t think of anything else to use for the title which, technically, is correct.
Day 100 - "We Made It"
West Seattle High School graduates painting up West Seattle hills. 100 Days into Sheltering. I guess we’re easing out of this but it sure doesn’t feel like it.
Day 96 - An Afternoon At The Playground
West Seattle High School is just down the street from me. Their track has always been my go-to place for interval training. But since Covid, it has become a bastion of the CrossFit crowd, with people lifting weights, running sprints, and carrying around these strange bowling balls with handles on them.
Day 90 - New Lens
Got a new lens. Went to Harper to see what I could see. I saw a bumble bee.
Day 88 - A Long, Strange Trip (Across Pandemania)
We took a three road trip during the middle of the Pandemic down the Oregon and California coasts to Arizona and back. Things were strange enough on the way down. They got stranger on the way back up.
Day 87 - Home
A quick drive up the Oregon coast with a short stop in Yachats, then on to the freeway for the final drive home.
Day 86 - Del Norte
The Pacific Coast from Eureka, CA up to Yachats, OR is one of my favorites. It’s wild with surf, rocks - some the size of city blocks - seemingly cast off into the ocean hither thither, and giant trees that stand as gendarmes in mountain groves that rise right up from the beaches.
