Another one of our frequent walks, down through Schmitz Preserve Park, an old-growth forest that drops down to Alki Beach. I love how the Admiral Bridge frames the park. It says so many things about man and nature.
Read MoreFran’s mom, Rossie, is 84. She and her husband Jack live in a retirement home situated conveniently between us and the ferry, just a mile or so from us. Their world has grown smaller with Covid as all social programs have been put on hold and all residents are not allowed to leave the premises. (more…)

Read MoreLife is not so hard for us. We live above our workspace in West Seattle and we can take a ferry from there to a small family property on the peninsula. With summer, and with clear air, we are treated to views that will never get dulled from hedonic adaptation. I hope.
Read MoreThe other day a friend of mine was walking along a trail and came across another hiker not wearing a mask. “No COVID here!” the other hiker pointedly announced, indicating his political allegiance. My friend is way too polite but his response should have been “Yup, I can’t see any neither.” [more]
Read MoreOn Alki Beach, it’s now possible to have a beer while sitting outside on the patio. We stopped for one and observed this person with their blue gloves. No comment, just an observation.
