Day 71 - Dining Al Fresco in Santa Barbara

Today in Santa Barbara, restaurants opened to people dining - outside. It was wonderful to see. We too dined al fresco, and my sister’s outdoor ‘dining room.’ Last night after arriving we went over to the local Italian restaurant, Via Maestra, to pick up an order of lasagna. There was a line out the door of people waiting to pick up their take-out (I can confirm it was delicious). People were not really social distancing. There were marks on the floor every six feet where we were supposed to stand, but there was a fellow right behind me, breathing down my neck. I wondered where he had been for the past 71 days. Typically passive agressive, I looked at him and moved to the side. The server was ringing me up so it was not a big deal. We went for a walk along the beach; there were not many people but there was a fair amount of oil in the sand. I had forgotten about that. When I lived in Santa Barbara in 1996, there was no oil.

Six feet!
