Day 11 - Now It's Official
Monday March 23.
Today, Governor Inslee announced Washington’s version of ‘Shelter in place’ which he called ‘Stay home, stay healthy.’ All non-essential businesses are to close as of Wednesday.
Track work. I do this every once in a while. Run half a mile down to the high school track, then do intervals around it: Run 420m at a good pace, Walk 80m, Run 200m at a faster pace, Walk 80, in a cycle until I reach 3.5 miles, then jog back. The idea is to get my heart rate up to about 155-160, then see how fast it drops during the walking portions. This is how it looks on a map. There were probably five other people on the track, and another twenty or so working out ion the infield; some of them from a CrossFit shop across the street. Everyone was keeping their distances.
Fran has developed a cold. I’m trying to stay away but it won’t matter anyhow; we’ve been sleeping together for fifteen years. Here in Seattle, we have limited contact with anyone we go out together (except for my runs) so we’re pretty safe in terms of one of us not bringing in contagions from outside. Knock on wood.
