Day 154 - The Lady with the Roses

There’s a story here. I’ll try to get a photo of her later. Down on Alki beach, just below the hidden steps that climb straight up to the upper reaches of West Seattle, is a quaint old row of one-story brick apartments from the 1940’s. And usually, on a sunny day, sitting outside is Mildred and her dog. She is probably from the 40’s as well. Maybe earlier. We often stop to say hello to her and she comments with irreverence and humor about the local denizens, delightfully oblivious that she is very much one herself. Today we stopped by and comment on the beautiful roses sprouting out of the prickly bush on the side of her apartment, and were rewarded with an entire bouquet. So thank you, Mildred.
