Day 84 - Central Coast - Santa Barbara to Half Moon Bay
The pictures don’t really represent what is going on in California with Covid-19; rather, they reflect our focus on not being a part of it. We left Santa Barbara after an early breakfast with Becky and drove up the 1, stopping at Half Moon Bay which looked beautiful on the map but which was pretty much closed down. It has a quaint old “Main Street” set up for the tourist crowd and a few restaurants were open doing take-out. We found a gastropub that was finding a way to serve people beer. They told us “you can have a beer outside on the patio while waiting for your take out but you have to order takeout and you have to return your glasses before you can pick up the takeout. Here is the menu and here are the cheapest takeout item.” Okayyyy…
We were one of only two guests at the motel.
We walked to the beach at sunset and found a pretty lively crowd of locals, presumably families with high school grads all hanging out together. People need each other. That’s what we’re all about.
